How to backup your MySQL database with phpMyAdmin

Solution If you are in our San Antonio (SAT) datacenter you can login with your database username and password at http://mysql.websitesettings.com.

If you are in our Dallas (DFW) datacenter you can login with your database username and password at http://mysql.dfw1-1.websitesettings.com.

Once you are logged into phpMyAdmin please click the "Export" link which will allow you to dump your database. The default options will typically be fine when creating your database backup. If you scroll to "Save as file" section, you will be able to set your database backup name along with the type of compression you wish. This will allow you to have a smaller file on your desktop if you are planning to keep it as a personal archive. We recommend setting the compression to gzipped. Once you press the "Go" button a popup will ask if you would like to save the file to your desktop. This would then complete your task of getting a full database backup.
